DS (6.5) wetting the bed most nights

Ds is now 6.5 and is still wetting the bed nearly every night. He so wants to be dry at night and he's so disappointed every night when his bed is wet. We're not making into a big deal as I don't want him to be embarrassed by it. He refused to wear pulls ups since last summer so it has been over 6 months of trying, he went through a stage of being dry for nearly two weeks and we thought he had cracked it but then back to wet every night and sometimes twice a night. I am doing so much washing and everyone is tired from the constant bed changing in the night. I really don't know what to do next to help him... any advice?

my DS3 is 7 tomorrow and still in pull-ups. We went ot GP a few weeks ago and have an appointment at a clinic at the end of April.....
IME (3 DSs!) - there's not a lot you can do. DS1 was similar and finally got dry just before 7, DS2 was dry at night at 3.
I would try and persuade him to go back into pull-ups and make an appointment with GP so he knows you are doing something about it

Hi my DS is the same. Limit squash. Stick to milk and water. Wee before bed, and yes, back to pull ups so you all get more sleep!

Same here with 7yo dd - she's not fussed about it too much but I get the sense she will be soon. Got specialist appt through gp, was seen by friendly nurse and got good advice to try out for a month then revisit. Worth talking to gp if your son is bothered by it. Dd seems pleased to have actions to take and is taking it really seriously, in a good way iykwim.

Invest in brolly sheets - they sit on top of the sheet and are absorbent and waterproof. They are pricy but saved my sanity as they are tumble dry-able and much easier to deal with than washing the sheet and mattress cover every day. My twins were both still not dry at over 9. We spent well over a year under the enuresis clinic and finally at just over 10 they are now both reliably dry. It was a long haul for us.

At 6.5 I don't think it is medically a cause for concern but it is exhausting. Good luck!

My nearly 6yo had her first dry night ever last night . She was in pull ups until last night we tried her without. We had tried a few times previously but she'd be in a wet bed by 10 - and be completely unaware of it she is so deep a sleeper. What pushed me to try her last night was that she'd been waking up more in the night for a wee and the wee itself had become a lot more concentrated, as if the necessary hormone has started kicking in.

We were seen by a dr in enuresis clinic in November, and have a follow up appointment with a nurse on Tuesday. His advice was to make sure she's drinking a good amount of water through the day and make her count to 20 between sitting on the toilet and starting to wee to stretch her bladder. I have no idea if that had any effect (or even if last night was a fluke) but I think she liked thinking she was doing something. She is very scared of wetting the bed and it took a lot of persuasion for her to ditch the pull ups. Opposite situation to yours really but I wanted to let you know it's a common problem
