7 year old talking like a baby

Hi, I'm posting on behalf of a friend really. My friends ds aged 7 has started talking in a really babyish voice when spoken to and it's starting to worry her, she asks him to talk normally but he generally reverts back, any idea what this is about? I don't think it's a big deal and he's a bright beautiful little boy (occaionally a scamp). Maybe it's a confidence thing....has anyone experienced this?

my dn did this (she's 5) and i'll be honest, it annoyed me.
she would make flap her arms about when asking for water, or speaking in baby sentences, it kind of sprung up one day

because she's the only girl, she's very spoilt, and i think thats where it stemmed from, but had to be firm and say 'no dn, say it properly' and she's fine now lol
