Reading advice

[ELM]

Feel a bit like I'm trespassing, I'm from the antenatal threads, expecting my first.
(By the way I have been reading some of the threads in here and am now PETRIFIED!)
Can you recommend any parenting/child behaviour etc books, or books which you wouldn't bother reading.

A book I loved and have recommended before is Kidwrangling by Kaz Cooke - some great advice, lots of support and a good dollop of humour (you have to read the chapter on how to be perfect!)

If it helps at all, I was terrfied, and had really built myself up for the worst case scenario in EVERYTHING! but it all seems to be going well. I'm still alive, so is my DD, and she even seems to be happy sometimes Seriously, it really has turned out so much better than I had anticipated - as so many others have said, relax, enjoy your baby as much as you can, and sod the housework!

BTW my DD is now 5 months, so I've managed to keep her alive for nearly half a year so far!

ELM dont have any books to recommend but what you need to do is read all you can now, but when the babys born put them on a high shelf, you can dip into them every once in a while. Then come on to mumsnet to ask advice of parents who have been through probably every senario you can imagine and they will have all the tips you will need as well as support. Books cant give you that.
Also dont be scared, post away on any topic, if you have a worry or a question.

agree mumsnet much more useful than any book.
