Ok so I know this is one of those posts where I am seriously hoping I will be told I'm being an over-concerned idiot. But I honestly don't know whether I am worrying over nothing, or if my DS needs to be checked out. I am a single mum with no adult man I could ask, I went to a girls school and have only got sisters. In short, I know naff all about 'normal' willies. Especially not toddler ones.

So my question is, how much variation is there/what's normal? My DS1 (age 3.5) seems to be very much on the dinky side compared to the peers I have (unintentionally) clocked recently. Noticeably so. I would say when he's standing up you can see about 1cm of shaft and the head of his willy, plus a lot of foreskin. If you push back the fat pad there's quite a bit more in there but still only around 3.5 - 4cm in total (I'm not measuring him with a ruler or anything, it's guesswork really, but as a reasonable guestimate...) He's also rather slim.

Anyway, before I go on and on about it... I just want to know really, would that worry you? Should I be asking a GP to check him out? Or is this completely normal and I should just stop worrying about his bits and pieces. I just did a quick google search and realised that there are a couple of conditions (buried penis) that sound possible and others (micro penis) that sound awful and maybe it's better to have him checked out now, while he's young enough to hopefully not care or remember. And maybe google is just about the worst thing for any parent to consult, ever. I don't know.

Well, as my nc suggests, I feel like a silly, worried mum and I just need reassuring or to be nudged in the direction of the GP if necessary. TIA

I would ask the gp to have a quick look next time youre there for something else. I have np idea either as I have dds :)

I'm wondering the sane thing about my 2 yr old son actually. We are beginning toilet training and it's really difficult to get his willy to poke down into the bowl! I'm going to ask the HV at his 2 yr check.

Ask your GP. My son has a micro penis (he has downs) there's more when you push on the fat pad but it's tiny. I think he may get hormone treatment when he's older. If you're worried - ask.

thank you! I think I will just have to toughen up and ask the GP to check. And hope he doesn't remember!!

given that u are posting on a parenting site I'd say you already know a fair bit about willies Grin

My DS is the same and he also has missing testicles. When he was checked out by the consultant she was unconcerned by his tiny penis.

Hi @sillyworriedmama @barleysugar I know this thread is pretty old but I’m so worried about my sons penis. It appears so small. When you press down the fat around there’s more there so I’m thinking he has a ‘buried penis’ but I’m so sick with worry that he’ll get bullied for it. Can I ask what has happened with your sons? Did they appear more normal over time? Did you speak to the doctor about it?

Mamamia94 · 24/09/2024 21:46

Can anyone share an update on this please? I’m really worried that my son may also have ‘hidden penis’ I would like to know how your boys look now

WipsGlitter · 25/09/2024 07:24

My son now has a big one. Which is odd as it was so tiny for ages!
