Have an 11 mo and now a bit worried at what shes supposted to be doing according to the leaflet thats come with the one year review reminder. She doesnt point at things and it says she should be doing that. It also says she should be making lots of sounds - she can say dada but its just a sound not addressed at her dad. It says she should be almost walking alone- she does stand holding on to the couch but in quite a wobbly way. Please tell me its all OK .....

Dd is only just one year old and although she babbles her head off, none of it is recognisable. She doesn't walk or even stand but crawls like a demon. She points, but this has only happened in the last week or so. We have her 12 month review coming up too.

Please don't worry about it, its not a baby exam! Its there for you to ask about any concerns, which you do have. Dont be afraid to voice them, I'm sure the HV will put our mind at rest about your DD's progress. To be honest, here's not a lot they can really tell at that age. I'm sure, like me, if you had any real worries you'd have been at the doctors with her before now.

Don't panic! Wink

Don't worry. DS2 is 12.5 months now and he's only just started proper pointing in the last 3 weeks or so. Wobbly holding onto the couch is fine. Average age for actual walking is 15 months, regardless of what you might read or see about early walkers.

As long as he's progressing at his own pace everything is ok.

Oh, and DS1's first word was at 14 months (doggee) and he only had 12 words at 2 years old. He's a right chatterbox now at 3.5.

My son is one on Friday and is doing exactly the same as your daughter.

Our DS didn't walk until 18 months; he was tall for his age, and waited until he could do it without falling over!
