5 month old starting to cry when I leave the room

Is this a usual development?
As I'm not the type to smother DS with cuddles. We play a lot but I also make sure he has alone time as well.

Just recently he has started to scream when I leave the room. He is having a paddy as I type this as I've gone into the kitchen.

How do you stop this or is it something that just eventually goes away?
It's not like I leave him alone too often either, we have cuddles and play time and singing time but he has little breaks of time by himself too!

This is very normal! At that age, they are now aware enough to see you leave, but don't understand that when you go out of the room you still exist and will return.

I had a super-Velcro baby where this period lasted for ages and happened even if I went out of her field of vision very briefly, but most of them get over it. This link explains it quite well and briefly here

Thankyou very much I have just read the link and it explained things well Smile

I've decided distracting with Teddy's etc will keep me sane when I have to leave the room haha.

I must say he is much better than a friends baby of the same age. She won't go to anyone even to be held other than her mum! DS is happy to be cuddled by anyone really, and eventually settles if I leave him for a little while!
