Ok so my nearly 4 month old dd has been combination fed from about 4 weeks I'm using cow and gate what I used for my other 2 dc but she still will only take about 2 1/2oz every 3 hrs which I don't mind but I have to force it down her she doesn't seem to like it I was thinking of changing to aptimal I know they are made by the same company and only have one different ingredient but thought she might like the taste better as it's ment to be more like breastmilk has anybody changed formula do I need to do it gradually or can I just swap it over??

have you tried a faster teat? Please dont force her as you will put her off bottles completely. The closer to breastmilk claim about aptamil is a load of guff btw. You could get a few cartons of different formulas and see which one she prefers. Maybe she just prefers breastmilk.

Yes tried faster teats she just gags on it I would just bf but don't seem to have enough milk for her she just keeps screaming and pulling off she gets quite upset and when I express I can only get about an oz

Expressing is not a good indicator of supply.

Do you breastfeed then top up with formula? Maybe she's just full. You shouldn't force her to take more.

I think you should repost in the bottle and breastfeeding topic in Feed The World. Lots of experts there.

No I bf at different times

His might sound like a stupid question, but is she hungry when you feed her? Or do you feed her in a three hourly routine?

I think you need to give more detail about feeds to get more useful help, but all formula is pretty much the same. I wouldn't have thought it was a taste thing, sounds more like a hunger issue to me.

Butterfly82 · 23/01/2014 23:02

I try to make her go longer but she is very unsettled after about 2 1/2 hrs I try to distract her so it is at least 3 HV isn't much help because she is putting on weight told me not to change anything but she never seems settled I thought it could be reflux my ds had that but she is much more settled after bf it seems to be only if yet a ff that is the problem

If you put a detailed post in the feeding topic, there's lots of people there who will help. If you wanted to, you could probably go back to breastfeeding fully.

Best of luck.

Thank you I will.

hipp organic is a bit sweeter and might be tolerated by breastfed babies more it was my main reason for choosing it for my son xx
