Retelling a story

Just wondered at what age your children could retell a story plot? My kids have all been different!

Ds1 (5.4yo) could retell simple story plots from when he was 2.5yo, he can now free read and retell plots such as The Chronicles of Narnia - one of his favourites.

Dd is 2.9yo and is starting to retell plots from books aimed at her age group. She currently loves Library Lion and the PJ sandwhich one.

It's interesting to see the fimilarities and differences between them though, now that I think about. I usually encourage them but let them do it at their own pace :)
