5mo - top front teeth first?!

I've always understood that the bottom front two teeth are usually the first to come through. DD is 23 weeks and has had little bumps on her bottom gums in the middle for a few weeks so when she started showing teething symptoms I assumed that they were niggling or cutting.

But when I was applying some Calgel just now she closed her jaws around my finger and I felt what I'm sure was a tooth edge through her top gum. This will be her first tooth - has anybody else's child cut their top teeth first?

My DS (6mos) has had hard sharp ridges on his top gum for at least 8 weeks - I thought the same as you - but still not appeared yet.

We've recently developed the two pale lumps on the lower gum so just waiting for the first breakthrough.

Will report back when we get one!

My dd1 and dts cut their teeth in the usual pattern but dtd got her top teeth first. She then got her bottom molars before the second incisors.

I'm sure it doesn't matter so no need to worry :).
