14 month old DD not standing. GP referred her, what happens now?

DD is 14 months old and will not weight bear on her legs at all. She has been late-ish meeting other gross motor milestones like rolling over and sitting herself up but has always managed to get around to doing it before she meets criteria for referral. She only just started crawling about 2 weeks ago but still isnt standing and if you try to put her ina standing position she just tucks her legs under her. We took her to the GP today who has referred her for what she described as a 'possible developmental delay'. Does anybody know what is likely to happen next? Sheis fine in all other areas, she is talking and her fine motor skills are great, its just the gross motor development that seems to be affected.

My dd was referred for not weight-bearing.

We were given an appointment with a paediatric. As it happened dd stood up and walked all of a sudden 1 week before the appointment when she was 17 months.

Paed checked her over thoroughly and declared her absolutely fine.

Until she literally stood up and walked she had never even stood holding onto the couch. If we lifted her to stand her legs would immediately come up like a frog! She never crawled and used to bum shuffle.

Hope your little one is ok.

Sorry - we were given an appointment with a paediatrician.

She sounds fab... :)
Two of my four were slow to get up and go. One was 18m before she decided to walk, the other was 23 months! He didn't sit properly til he was one, and didn;t start crawling til he was 16 months. They both have pooe muscle tone and very loose joints and it was simply harder work to get them going.

The floppiest one is now doing rugby..... (and he WAS dx as developmentally delayed but has done very well!)

My dd didn't stand until 15 months! And has only jut started walking at 22 months. I thought I was going to go mad with worry but she is just taking her time...

Thanks ladies it's lovely to hear others have had the same and everything has been fine. The HV and I have been pretty laid back about it but the doctor seemed much more concerned (tbh I think she made too much of a fuss about it). I'm sure she is just taking her time. She is fab, thanks medusa, she's a proper little chatter box and her crawling is really good now, I need eyes in the back of my head and the poor dog doesn't know what's hit her!

Hi my DS didn't crawl til 12 months, didn't roll much at all, didn't pull up to standing til 14 months and didn't walk til 17months. He would just pull his legs up froggy style every time I tried to stand him up. By 18months he was running so fast I couldn't keep up!!! I wouldn't worry too much, they often do things in their own sweet time. The GP or other professional can rule out hip issues but honestly she'll likely be just fine. Especially if she's crawling, she'll be toning those cute chubby limbs in readiness to walk.
