My friends use their children's singing as a source of amusement for them

because they know I find it torturous
they purposefully teach them songs and encourage them to serenade me

do you think its time to find new friends?

no, put up with it, you old curmudgeon

edam · 28/07/2006 18:46

so, what do they sing? Or is it the quality of their voices that's the problem?

I think your friends sound very funny.

I remember ds1 treating my brother and his wife to about 16 rousing renditions of "I'm a Dingle Dangle Scarecrow..." while dh and I gazed on adoringly.

Db and his wife are divorced now, though I'm sure my child's lovely singing had nothing to do with it.

God, when I was little I remember entertaining my Aunt with my version of Fergal Sharkey's Good Heart.
All the actions and everything!

And a friend and I made up our own dance to Jan Hammer - Crocket's theme which was used to entertain our respective parents.

Oh the shame

5 year olds singing "Twuly Scwumptious" and "Fwewe Jacque" in high-pitched squeaky voices

And how can your heart not melt at that, you soulless Twig, you.

CorrieDale · 28/07/2006 20:20

Oh that's so cute!!!!! Mind you, DS (13 mo) groans along to 'golden slumbers' during the bedtime feed. I think he thinks he's humming (or even singing) but it's more like a tunless groan. Terribly terribly funny. Wish I could tape it and play it back to him when he brings his first girlfriend home.

Miaou · 28/07/2006 20:20

Just be thankful they don't sing "happy birthday"

Twiglett · 28/07/2006 20:21

That brown, marmitey shell clearly hides a heart of...well, whatever Twigletts are made of.
