Travelling to Egypt with a 19 Month Old - Help Please

Hello,

Firstly apologies for putting this thread on this part but couldn't find a travel related one.

Anyway I was hoping to find other parents that have taken there child to Egypt or similar.

We have decided to go 5* to Hurghada, Egypt (never been to Egypt) and my husband researched the hotel it has fantastic reviews for cleanliness etc and all say that it is immaculately clean and that the hotel provides hand sanitizer everywhere.

Adding to this I am taking my own sanitizer for me & my hubby and hand sanitizing wipes for my then to be 19th month old. Plus we are all having the appropriate vaccinations and I'm taking Dettol wipes for our room, sterilizing tablets for my sons dishes, bottles, cups etc. And I know all the usual precautions such as no Ice cubes, no salad etc and only bottled water.

But I was hoping to have some advice from mums that have been, anything I've missed??

Many thanks in advance!

X

Sorry I should also add that we are not leaving the complex at all. It's quite big so we have no reason to. And I'm taking most of my own food for the baby.

Hello we took our son at 14 months. The only advice I would give is watch them in the bath, my boy likes to try and drink the water. He did in Egypt and got sick, only 1 day but out of 10 days we had no other issues

We've taken Ds1 & 2 to visit family in Turkey when they've both been under 6 months & older. With the bottled water make sure you double check & are careful with the sodium & sulphate levels in it as it's not the same as tap water. Here's a link to current NHS guidelines.

Also take a mosquito net for night. We used a shade - a - babe for the pram as protects from the sun, acts as a wind sheild & insect net so great for when your not inside day or night. I also took a mini first aid kit with things like calpol, nasal saline drops, glycerol cough medicine, calamine lotion for bites / prickly heat. All be it my worries of a cold were unfounded the saline drops were brilliant when ds1's nose was blocked up because of the dust! Also take stuff for teething.

We also took their sleeping bag / bedtime blanket just so things looked, felt & smelt a bit more familiar for them.

Your biggest challenge ime will be the flight. Tessie some toys, very treat type snacks & if you've got a tablet download some of your lo's favourite programmes / films.

Hope some of that helps!
