20 month old pulling her hair out and constantly sucking thumb

Hi my ds has sucked her thumb since she was born. She sucks it pretty much all the time in the day and at night. Her thumb is bright red and sore. She has also recently started pulling her hair out and holding the loose bits of hair in her hand whilst thumb sucking.
Wondering how I can help her... any ideas?
Would anyone reccommend offering her a soother instead at nap times?

Definetly try a dummy. For one thing, they are easier to remove eventually.

Does she have a conforter toy/blanket she can snuggle into ratger than her hair?

Yes she has a teddy that comes everwhere with us. Think I will try offering her a dummy for sleep times. Thanks
