Does anyone have any good tips and advice on potty training a 26 month old boy who is very lazy at learning. He can use the potty if hes running around without a nappy on but its the telling me he needs to go that im stuck on.

For gawd sake, wait.

26 months is still very young. DD was 2.6 and one day she decided to do it all by herself: "Mummy, I'm not wearing nappies anymore".

She was totally dry in three days and after about a week, dry at night too. He'll do it when he's good and ready and you'll look back and wonder why you even bothered to 'train' him at all.

We tried it with our bright, quick to learn boy at about 26 months and gave up within a week. He didn't pick it up & was getting stressed about it & we dont have a tumble dryer - he was going through about 8 changes a day. We've decided to leave it & in the meantime he's happy learning how to pull down his pants & how to sit on the toilet.

I think he'll tell me / show me when he's ready. Friends have told me when they're ready the crack it within a week & other friends have said o leave it till he's nearer 3.

Only you know your own kid & whether they're ready.
