Rewards for 4yo boy, what works for you?

Help! I need some ideas for rewards that will work for my 4yo boy. We are getting into a negative cycle of 'telling off' a lot and I want to turn it round. When we tried sticker charts he wasn't interested. Does anyone have any successful ideas?

Does he save the stickers up for anything? This worked for a while with my dd. When she had 20 or however many, she got something she wanted, like a comic. But I only did it for specific behaviours, not just 'being good'. So, for example, she'd have 'not pestering at the checkout' and 'getting dressed without fussing' and get a sticker for each of those.

I don't use them now (4.6). Just for a few months around late 3, early 4 I think.

If you're interested, I found the book '1,2,3 Magic' quite useful and practical. Also 'Calmer, Easier, Happier Parenting' but that's a bit more intense I think.

Thanks, we tried that and it worked in the first week but after that he wasn't really interested. Might try again as it was around the time DS2 was born so everything was a bit crazy!
