important stuff dropped down radiator

my DS (2 and a half) has a habit of putting things down the back of the radiators. the latest being both telly controls, so our (including his!) TV watching is severely curtailed.

But we can't get the tv controls out. Any tips on doing this? and stopping him from doing in future (other than keeping all smallish items out of his reach...)

thanks for advice!

unbend a wire coat hanger and hook it out ?

put a shelf over the radiator to stop access to the top of it ?

guess you've tried unbent coathanger from top, jiggling it from underneath to get it to drop past skirting board etc

have had success in past wrapping gaffer tape sticky side out round end of unbent coat hanger, poking to get the tape stuck firmly to the remote and bringing out hanger and item together...
