Difficult First Pregnancy ~ How Did 2nd One Go?

Hi,

I had quite a traumatic first pregnancy/birth:
Crutches for 10 weeks due to PGP
Labour 20 hours then emergency section
Both me and babba had blood poisoning
I had the itchy liver problem (can never remember the name) and it wasn't picked up on
My epidural never worked properly so i could feel them sowing me up and then lost a lot of blood.

On HDU for 2 days, kept passing out, was violently sick from the morphine despite anti-sickness drugs and took about a month to feel anywhere near human.

Now I have an almost 2 year old and I'm thinking of TTC again this year. Anyone had a hard time first time round and better second time??

Thanks :)

Yup!
I had very bad ms for the first 4.5 months
Caught whooping cough at 7 mnths
Was in labour for 29 hrs and ended up with ventouse
DS was in SCBU for a week - I kept passing out and couldn't get from the maternity ward to see him unless DH was around to push the wheelchair
It was 2 days before I had a blood transfusion which meant I could at last stand up without fainting. I was discharged after 5 days.

PG2 was a dream (although I begged the GP for anti-sickness drugs which worked brilliantly) DD was born 2.8yrs after DS. Only 13 hr labour on gas and air.

I worked on the basis that nothing could be as bad as the first time, so felt able to give it a go!!
Good luck!

I had pre-eclampsia with DS1 - bed rest from 31 weeks, emergency c.section at 36 weeks when my BP reached something like 240/120 and DS was showing signs of distress.

DS2 was completely different. totally normal BP throughout ending in a Lovely VBAC at 39+5.

DS3 was a completely normal pregnancy, i went into labour at 41+2 and I think I would have delivered him normally if I hadn't been told I was ready to push and pushed for two hours before the properly trained midwife rather than student examined me again and realised I still had a rim that was then swollen and unable to dilate so ended up with another csection.

Thanks Ladies. You have restored my faith!!

Fuzzymum was your second section any easier? I don't know if I will be allowed to go into natural labour as my cervix is in a weird position and I didn't progress past 6cms last time, I don't know what they take into account!
