neoprene swim nappies

ds is booked in for underwater swimming classes from 5 months old - he has to wear a neoprene nappy. It looks really weird on the website - has anyone used them, do they just go onto naked bum or does normal nappy go underneath? Do I still need to buy those little swimmer nappies for underneath?

Could they mean this sort of suit to keep them warm. Perhaps the pool can advise or supply. Pricey though if you are not sure he'll take to it. Otherwise a disposable or reusable swim nappy/suit/trunks is normally ok on its own as long as the water is a warm temperature and the lesson not too long. Don't use a normal nappy though , he'll sink !

now i have seen it all. a wetsuit for a baby. if it is to work like a proper wetsuit it must be tight. think putting meat inside a sausage. yes you would have to put clothing of some sort on your baby. the zipper normally go from neck all the way down to the leg - hence passing very close to his crotch. I can only imagine he would use this for a month if you're lucky as it must fit tight to work and babies grow so fast.

Thank you, will be entertaining trying to squeeze wriggly and very fat baby into sausage skin! I intend to make dh go with him so that I get a break on a Saturday morning and he has to deal with the nightmare of getting small cold baby dry!

ooh LIZS just looked at the fancy all in one thingie. However would you get baby into that one? The one I've been asked to buy is just like long legged swimming trunks but in skin tight plastic. Very glam for the poor boy.

I know - wouldn't fancy your chances of getting him in and out without a struggle tbh ! The velcro-over-the-shoulder number looks a better bet .
