3-year-old turned into a monster overnight!

I'm sure I'm just overreacting, and she will go back to normal soon, but over the last few days my usually angelic toddler has literally changed into a nightmare child! She is having constant metldowns in the mornings and before bed, rolling on the floor crying, throwing things, telling me she doesn't love me or her daddy. It's horrible, espcecially as it's so out of character! I'm wondering whether she'd over tired following Christmas, and when she gets back into a normal routine she'll improve. Has anyone experienced anything like this?

Yes, just stress of Christmas I expect. Was Christmas Day OK for her?

Plenty of adults find Christmas stressful I think, and I understand some of them freak out!

Might be feeling a bit under the weather causing tiredness and unusual grumpiness

When my children were small I used to call it Christmas syndrome! They all were quite difficult post Christmas. Just keep calm and positive. It will pass! Promise.

Rather than 'Christmas syndrome' it could be 'Christmas sweets syndrome'. It could be the sugar high/low effect of Christmas chocolate and lollies.

Terrible 3's! Worse than terrible 2's! We had it and he would have meltdowns when told no, was ridiculous but only lasted a couple of months. X

I usually found that really out of sorts behaviour like this - stuff that genuinely befuddled me - was followed either by them coming down with something or their trousers being suddenly 2 inches short overnight I.e. a growth spurt. Growing makes my kids ravenous and utterly unreasonable.
