Nine month old adopts dramatic cough when he wants a feed (lighthearted)

DS2 is nine months old and breastfed. I work full time so he does most of his breastfeeding in the evening/night/morning.

When he sleeps in the evening and wakes up and he wants a breastfeed to get back to sleep, he does this dramatic cough. It's really dramatic - he seems to almost cough himself sick, whooping and looks super-pathetic and crumply faced (he is a very cheery baby). The rest of the time he has no cough at all. Nothing!

I can't remember when it started - a few months ago - but it stops the minute he is in my arms for a feed. If he is halfway through a cough, he just drops the cough instantly. I don't remember DS1 doing this dramatic flourish; just crying when he wanted a feed and my nipple wasn't there immediately. DS2 is so dramatic about it that I'm afraid it makes DH and I laugh a little bit (as he doesn't seem ill....).

Does anyone else's child have a dramatic way of gaining attention? (Or insight into how I am rubbishly missing something wrong with DS2 for several months....Grin)

Does it do it for any other feeds eg in the day when you're home?

*he!! Not it!!!

I really apologise.

RubyrooUK · 01/01/2014 21:57

Nope. Normally he will just try to undress me during the day. And in the night he just rolls over and bites me or hits me in the face until my boob is accessible as we co-sleep.

It's just in the evening. I don't think small babies can manipulate you or anything - it's just such an uncharacteristic display given his non-dramatic nature and it appears so hammy.

How strange?! Just wondering if something's in his throat hence the cough but would be odd that it's only that time and he stops straight away Confused
