Obsessive sorting

Just wondering if anyone else's LO's had obsessive behaviours as a toddler. Is it a normal developmental thing? My DD is 20months and has stopped playing with her toys but instead will pick 5 or 6 items and move them 1 by 1 from say the sofa to the chair and back again. She is totally engrossed when doing it. She will also bring me things to hold and will get quite annoyed when I can't hold all the items she brings me in my hands! Is she being odd, or is this just something toddlers do?

Mine is 18 months and brings me things to hold.

Mine brought me things to hold.

And DD1 amazed everyone wherever she went by being so tidy. She'd line up all the toys in different houses in smart lines and tidy other children's toys for them instead of playing with them.

Both are completely 'normal' children. They are now 9 and 12.

My ds3 (2.8) and ds2 (4.9) love just moving stuff around. Bits of one thing mixed up with other things, put on tables, in the play tent, from room to room and just discarded so no game/toy is ever complete. Drives me nuts. But totally normal. In their heads they are packing bags ins going on holiday. God know what type of holiday requires such detritus.

Normal. Smile

There was a thread on here a few months ago about different development stages, and this was definitely one that many children go through.

Thanks everyone, that's reassuring. She threw a tantrum with such passion yesterday that it actually made me laugh! I was feeding DS (15weeks FF) and was dutifully attempting to hold the items she was bringing me in my semi free hand, but I dropped them, and she squealed and shouted for 20mins, so loudly that she made DS cry.
