Advice re sleeping

My DD is 6 weeks old and - I'm sure like all babies - loves her cuddles and loves to be held.

She has non problem whatsoever falling asleep on me (or other people) but put her in her Moses basket and she'll either lay there wide-eyed or be very fidgety, which usually turns into a real agitated fidget and then finally a cry.

After a feed you can't put her straight down as obviously want her food to digest so if you hold her over your shoulder for winding she'll fall asleep on you.

Any tips/advice for getting them to sleep in their Moses basket?

Just FYI she CAN self settle as has done before but really doesn't seem to like her basket.

Do you warm it up with a hot water bottle? My little one doesn't like a cold basket. Also, at first the basket swamped her so I slept with a few muslins (so they smelled of me) and used them to pad out the sides so she was cosy.

It's pretty usual for babies this age not to be able to self settle.

When you say "she can self settle as has done it before" - was this a couple of weeks ago when she was very very sleepy newborn? as that isn't quite the same thing as knowing how to self settle, it's more just that they conk out whereever they are put at that tiny age.

If you want to teach self settling, I have heard that swaddling, dummies and white noise help. Dark quiet room obv. Also you could try stroking her to sleep at first and then gradually stroking less and less until she can fall asleep by herself. None of this worked for DD though!

You could try a sheepskin or other soft lining in the basket? Those moses bsaket mattresses are really thin.

Another thing that might work is putting a tshirt DH has worn in the basket, your will probably smell of milk.
