He much prefers looking at the wall, the light, the side of his Moses basket. Anything but faces it seems!
I am trying not to be paranoid but all the developmental stuff says that babies are fascinated by faces and DS just doesn't seem to be at all.
Where/what did or does your newborn look at?

I am pretty sure DD was exactly the same. Lights and windows or anything bright were waaaay more interesting than boring old faces.

I think the face fascination comes later

Yep, at that age they're interested in light, shade and bold patterns. Sure he's fine! He's still just getting used to the world and how to use his eyes x

Thanks! That's reassuring. I can't remember what my other two were like at that age at all. It was only 4 years ago.

DH is more paranoid than I am which makes me worse.

Definately normal, don't worry. They are still learning to focus etc.

DS usually looked over my shoulder at that age - they like the contrast between things, and look at edges. I kept thinking someone else (more interesting) had walked into the room!

My ds1 never looked at faces, in fact turned away when I deliberately moved my face in front of him. When he was 6 weeks old I took him to see a friend of mine whose ds was the same age. Friends ds stared at me constantly. My ds stared at the corner of the room. Both are absolutely fine now. I was so worried, but he is fine.

DD was like this. I was worried and mentioned it to the HV. She asked if I thought it was a problem...because she didn't say herself that it was I didn't take it any further. She was like this for some months actually, but is fine now.
