She keeps taking food out of fridge. Yesterday she grabbed a yoghurt, opened it and then wouldn't eat it. This morning she has done it again as well as eating all of dp's chicken for his sandwiches! So, this morning i sat her at the table and told her she is to stay there until she eats the yoghurt. She's still there and so is the yoghurt!!! Time to give in?!?!?!

No sweets unless she eats the yoghurt-would that work?

kickassangel · 20/07/2006 11:22

I don't agree with keeping her at the table for that long. Don't make it an issue or you might have serious eating problems in years to come.

On a positive note look at the qualities shes demonstrating:

determination
will power
patience .........

compromise, one spoonful of yogurt followed by a kiss?
hope you've enjoyed a quiet morning!

I wouldn't leave her there that long if she was upset. I haven't made her stay there. She's singing away to herself and when I went through just now we had this conversation:

"Have you eaten your yoghurt?"
"Nope."
"Are you staying there all day then?"
"Yep."

I need her to start to realise that she can't always just do what she wants. Whatever 'punishment' I follow through with she doesn't care!

I think you absolutely right to set clear rules about meal times but I just don't think that the kitchen table is seen as a punishment area.

My Mum used to make me sit at the table until I'd eaten my peas. Would sit there for ever because I hated peas, still do! Used to have an open yoghurt sitting there as my pudding. Used to push the peas into the yoghurt and then say I'd eaten my peas and was too full for pudding!
