Our baby will not take bottle from dad - help

I really hope someone can help, our 8 month old is refusing the bottle from my husband for her bedtime feed.

She is breast fed but we have always given her a bottle before bed to help her sleep. She is not a fan of sleeping and she is a very hungry baby, so the nurses at hospital suggested a bedtime bottle to us while I was poorly. Dad has always done the bath before bed and I have always then done the bottle. However I am now starting to go back to work and when he tried feeding her the other night while I was at work she would not play ball. She cries, goes bright red and stiff. She works herself up so much. He has tried again this week but has the same outcome. I have tried being in the room but does not help.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Both of mine were bottle refusers so I won't be of much help sorry, but has he tried a cup instead?

I'd ask MNHQ to move this thread to the breast & bottle section too, you may get a few more replies Xmas Smile

Hi, thanks, I will try the cup. She is fine with me, just not dad :(

Advice I was given:
Don't be in the room when he gives the bottle
Get him to wear one of your t-shirts so the baby can smell you
Make sure she's not too hungry

Thanks, will give it a go :)

My baby wouldn't take a bottle from CM when I went back to work. V traumatic / annoying. What worked for me was going around there and giving DD her bottle, then saying 'Now CM have a go' and getting CM to give bottle in same way, at same angle, on same knee as me. Modelled it for her. Felt like DD needed permission to have bottle from CM. Took a couple of goes and then bingo.
