Concerned I have been looking after a little boy on a daily basis I have had 15 years experience with early childhood education and feel he needing some intervention. I wanted some advise as to weather I should wait or if other people had same concerns with their child.
he has squint which the mother hasn't bought up
he is inattentive he moves quickly round the room exploring spending approx. 20sec on each area opening cupboards doors moving through to different rooms opening clothing draws etc when asked to come and see Mum he keeps going. when asked to put his sun had on he keeps going. Doesn't seem to listen, doesn't play with other children has been at my home for month 4 days week 8 hr day surrounded by 4yr, 7 month brother and 2 year old. when they talk to him e ignores them staying on task exploring. runs off difficult to hold hand and walk to the car pulling away and running. lunch time gets up to table takes two bites gets down I tell him to sit at table he keeps waking I lift him up he vocalises upset and then takes two more bites gets down over and over. the other day went to train show where children can ride on trains santa etc and he would not stay still in line he pulled out of my hand several times and ran to train one time moving through some adults legs crawling along. when I try to connect with him through books music etc stays for short 30 sec and moves on either out of the room outside when ever a door open. want to get connected with this child. he talks in a beautiful babble and the only words I can understand is which is repeated often when conversation is started by someone else "dad in car mum in car and then it is repeated 5 or 6 times over until he tells everyone. he also has squint in on eye which makes eye contact difficult.
