Hi any advice tips thoughts please
My lovely little boy hardly eats ..... I have been EBF started weaning just before 6 months, baby
Cereal/creamy porridge. I've tried so many different foods but he doesn't seem interested really and will have a tiny bit of his food before mouth jams shut. I offer 3 meals a day, sometimes more to see if he likes it but he "tastes" more than eats. The most he eats is about 4 big teaspoons full, obviously not in 4 mouthfuls for him.
I only bf first thing in morning and before bed. He wakes and has about 2 short feeds. Is this too much at night?
Sorry I've gone in abit, what is your 8 half month eating?

Is there a reason you aren't bfing more in the day stubbs? The current recommendations are to bf roughly an hour before offering solids until they are one. There some more info in So how do we get started with solids? Smile

You might also want to ask MNHQ to move this thread to either breast & bottle or the weaning section, you might get a few more responses Smile

Are you spoon feeding?

Hi thanks for replies,
I have the past couple days been feeding morning and evening thinking he may eat in the day, he wakes to be fed a lot at night. I'm spoon feeding and giving him finger foods but he eats like a sparrow.
Other reason not much bfeeding in day is the number of peope who raise their eyebrows when I say I'm still B feeding him, I started feeling arkward .... Embarrassed
even.

Have you tried baby led weaning? Like give him a quarter slice of toast and see how he gets on. DD didn't eat A THING until she was almost ten months old. Every day I gave her homemade meals and every day I threw them into the bin . I was so worried, all the books say six months is the age they should go on solids. Then I relaxed about it, I still cooked and offered but I stopped trying to coax her. Then one day (months later) she started feeding herself with her hands and now she eats well.

My EBF daughter breastfed a lot and ate very little until she was about 1. She was healthy and strong so I wasn't really worried. She is 12 now, and eats like a horse and is tall for her age.

Why are people making you feel bad about breastfeeding? They are idiots or jerks: ignore them.
