Can anyone recommend any good child development books for 6 months plus that will guide me on the sort of things I could do with my daughter - painting, dancing, reading etc, etc.

Can't tell you about specific books - but we have borrowed loads from the library looking for suggestions though for new activities. They tend to be for older children sort of 2 plus often if they are activity books.

For a quick look at development try this
developmet guide
which may give you a few ideas.
6mths may be a bit young for paintng and crayons. They will just go inthe mouth and your DD probably won't get the paper.
Spend lots of time singing, dancing, looking at pictures in books, talking, letting her grab and reach for simple toys.
Treasure baskets are fab - I'm sure there was a thread on them somewhere - I'll hae a look in a bit.

sorry no - just saw the thread and was interested.
All I know about treasure baskets is they should be natural materials - and everything in them, straight sided so they don't tip.
They should be used from when the child can sit unaided until they can move by themselves.
You should sit the child side on to the basket.
Are not meant for leaving child unattended with.
You should sit behind child and observe and not interfere with thier explorations.

I am sure Franny would send you a copy if you contacted her though
