How much is too much time for a 1yo to play by themselves? DS will quite happily play with his toys for at least an hour with little interaction from me when we are at home. When i do get down to play with him he interacts for a bit then gets bored & wanders off on his own again.

Is this bad?

I think what's important here is that it's his choice to play alone and that he knows you're there to play with him if he wants to you. Does he have opportunities to play with other children?

Yes, we go to baby activities at least 3 times a week & leave the house everyday so he gets to see outside too!

In that case I wouldn't worry too much. You can't make him play with you if he doesn't want to.

Don't worry it's bound to change. My 3yo DD absolutely will not play without me. Even if I get up to let the dog out it's "Mummy play with me!!!"

Enjoy it while you can Wink
