Hello all!

My Ds turned 6 months yesterday and i have seen him roll over and support his own head during tummy time over a month ago but for the past few weeks he has just stopped, he throws his head down when doing tummy time, he hardly rolls and when he does its onto his side and he rarely rolls back to front.

He pushes himself along on his back using his legs, he can pick things up and touch things with his finger and thumb but when it comes to moving he isnt really confident in those areas, he also cant sit up unaided and doesnt really seem anywhere near that stage yet.

I just want to hear if this is "normal" before i race to the GP or HV with my son panicking that im not doing something right, i know its not a competition or a race towards milestones, i just want to know he is ok.

I'm not sure if a lot of 6 months old are capable of sitting unaided - none of ours did that until about 8 months old (we have six children)

what he is doing sounds ok, but if you are worried get him checked, for peace of mind. you can see him and if you observe any changes that don't feel right, you should listen to your gut.

I found the Bamboo (Bambo? Bumbo?) chair really good to help them sit safely.
also you could try a baby walker (the type they sit in, and try to move along) - it's nice for them to be upright.

you need to set it to a height that the knees are slightly bent so they can practise " standing up" while being completely safe and supported.
