13 month cough

This might not be the right section, so sorry if so, but my 13 month old DD had a cold followed by an ear infection just under a month ago. She is better, her usual self and not in any discomfort anymore. She is left, however, with a lingering cough which I hear occassionally during the night, when she wakes in the morning and sometimes during the day. It is not all day and night. Her nap/s are a bit hit and miss as she often wakes coughing 10 mins or so into these, then struggles to get back to sleep properly. Should I take her to the GP or will they just tell me it is normal and to ride it out?

What a shame when it is waking her. I don't know and would probably leave it myself but then if you feel it really should be better and just carries on there 'd be no harm in seeing the GP

Coughs and colds take ages to heal in babies. DS1 had one for months at that age which became chesty. I stressed about it eventually because it just wasn't going away although GPs kept sending me away with no meds for it and I was about to give birth to my second. One good GP did finally diagnose a chest infection and he had antibiotics and an inhaler. Listen to the cough yourself and if you think it's going deeper, then get it checked out.
