Almost 9 year old boy - quitting everything, bored with everything else

Just can't get with him just now. He is also getting really worked up about insignificant stuff that he shouldn't be. I don't mind him quitting things as long as he's happy but he seems really grumpy just now. Any thoughts, experience? Is it hormones?

He's always been such a happy go lucky wee lad and it's like he's turned 13 early

How is school, friendships, etc? Any chance he is being bullied?

. Don't think he is being bullied. I have spoken with his teacher regarding other matters where he tended to over dramatise incidents.

Low self esteem might be it though can't figure out why. Always praise to the nth degree.

Any tips?
