Best bibs for weaning

Are there any brands of bibs that don't stain and look manky really quickly? We have Tommee Tippee bibs and after just a couple of months they're really discoloured and look dirty when they're not.

I use the rubber tommee tippee ones. They're a bit sturdier and have a part that catches crumbs. They're also wipe clean, which is amazingly useful! Having said that, if we're at home we just strip the DD off to her nappy - skin is the best bib! xxx

I've never bothered with bibs - all three have been weaned in their vests because I can't see the difference between washing a bib and washing a vest, and I find bibs just get in the way. If you're really bothered about the look, why not buy plastic wipe clean ones?

Plain white ones, then you can bleach them.
Muslins and a clip work well.
But also check out Bibetta

Or an all in one rainsuit!

Not sure if I was clear enough. It's the Tommee Tippee rubber ones that stain badly. I've scrubbed and they've been through the dishwasher but still look dirty. Any ideas anyone?

Ah I see.... I never had prob with them always just washed in sink though not dishwasher.

Yeah same here I just wash in the sink. Maybe it's the dishwasher that's discolouring them? My parents got a dishwasher for the first time recently, and all their 25 year old, previously black pans, have turned grey! xxx

I didn't use bibs, clothes got a little dirty sometimes, but I washed them.

You should never put pans in the dishwasher! It makes the handles loose as well. We don't have one because dishwashers are really bad for glassware, wooden utensils and crockery too.

I love my dishwasher.I put my pans in the dishwasher- all the handles are welded on- they seem just fine. Not for wooden items obvioulsy, but all my other crockery and glassware are shiny and sparkling.
Having a dishwaher keeps the kitchen really tidy- all the dirty stuff can be loaded as you go and keeps it out of sight until yo uare ready to run.

Ikea do a waterproof bib with elasticated sleeves that washes perfectly, dries quickly, and protects from most of the food. I love them.

We never got on with the rubbery bibs or smaller ones, as the food always spread beyond them!
I also stripped to the vest if it was warm enough Smile- my DD could easily get her lunch on her ankles, so a hankie round the neck was never going to cut it!

bibetta are fab, its made from a wetsuit material and folds out at the bottom to make a crumb catcher. I rinse after every use and they dry really quickly

Thanks. A few good ideas there. I'll check out ikea and bibetta. Dd does somehow manage to get food on her needs so maybe more coverage would be good Grin

Another vote for the Ikea ones - I think they're meant for painting but they're great.

Ikea or babybjorn. Can use both for painting also. The babybjorn ones much bigger so last forever

I've been using sleeved ones for DS1 from Mothercare (I think, they were a gift) for the past 2 years and they're fabric with waterproof backing. They work fine, but I wouldn't recommend them as they smell awful now, even just after coming out of the washing machine (and it's really the bibs, as I use real nappies too and they never smell after coming out of the washing machine).

For DS2 I've invested in a Bibetta and I'm impressed so far. It's expensive though, but you might not need more than 1.

If you're going for sleeved ones I'd recommend the wipe clean type like the Bibetta or the Mothercare coveralls linked above.

We did/do BLW with both kids and I've never got on with sleeveless bibs, they just rub their arms in it!

We use the towelling over the head ones from Sainsburys which you can bung in the washing machine. They are quite cheap and so we have a big stash and use a fresh one for each meal. They are handy as they double as a flannel at the end.

Got my Bibetta bib and it's perfect. Just what I was after. Looks much more comfortable on dd and a quick rinse and it's as clean as can be. Yet to see how it washes but so far so good. Thanks all for the top tips. :-)

Oh I see you're looking for best baby bibs. Why don't you try the TPE baby bibs (thermoplastic). They are very efficient to use and these baby bibs are much better than traditional bibs. I've been using them when I start weaning my little girl and it is really good. It does meet my expectations about the best baby bibs for weaning.

Boots coverall bibs are bloody brilliant, long sleeves etc all plastic and been using mine for 3 months and no stains!
