Is he becoming dummy dependent?

My 12 week old son has been sleeping really well for a few weeks. Then for the past week he has been sleeping through 7:30-6:30 and only crying a little then falling back to sleep by himself which I was over the moon with.

However the past three nights he's cried and won't stop until I go give him his dummy. I just don't get where this has come from?
Nothing had changed but now he cries until he gets his dummy, but I'm also wondering if it could be to do with his teething as he's got 4 little buds in his comes where teeth are starting to come through. Maybe they could be aching and waking him up?

His cry isn't a painful cry at all more of a morngey cry IYSWIM?

It could be teething pains, or perhaps he's becoming overtired and is using the dummy to sooth himself to sleep, If your worried he's becoming dependent, you could try not giving him the dummy and walk the floor till he falls asleep then put him to bed.
I have an 11wk old son who's has colic and refuses a dummy so I have to walk the floors with him. My problem now is he's started sucking his scratch mits, and I'm worried he'll start thumb sucking when the mits are no longer in use. any ideas on how to prevent this would be appreciated.

Funnily enough he does that too with the sucking scratch mitts! Smile
He sucks his dummy, or he sucks his mitts or hands. But I think part of that is when his gums are hurting he kind of chews. He has nice soggy clothes!

So no tips on what to so about that sorry, maybe your little one is just finding their hands? Cause my DS used to do it none stop but now he just does it when he seems a bit uncomfortable gum wise!

Is he hungry?

MamaPingu · 05/12/2013 23:01

He doesn't seem it no! I think it might be his teeth because he's started doing it in the day time now too he wakes up from naps not long after feeder whinging and then ends up chewing on his fists. Bless him!
