My friends 10 month kid has just got it, should I take my 9 month old round to catch it or is that an old wives tale??

I wouldn't. Most of the time chicken pox is a fairly mild illness with no lasting after effects, but in a small number of cases, it can be very serious indeed.

Why would you intentionally try to make your child ill? Oh & btw it's pox.

I should emphasise that it is a very, very small number of cases that are serious.
