Teething hell - anyone else going through this just now?

DD2 (nearly 1) is absolutely miserable with teething, and it has been going on for weeks. I have been giving her the works - nurofen, calpol, bonjela, anbesol, teething powders - nothing seems to make much of a difference. Nurofen only seems to take the edge off it. DD1 was nothing like this - just a bit cranky for a couple of days, and then the tooth would appear. DD2 has 6 teeth so far - I can only imagine that there are lots pushing through the gums at once Sad It is making her such a miserable baby - I want my happy, smiley girl back! Anyone else having such a miserable experience with teething?

Have you tried any teething toys? I gave mine bonjela and calpol but she also enjoyed biting teething toys. Sophie the Giraffe was her favourite and is a perfect size for them to hold www.mothercare.com/Sophie-the-Giraffe-Teether/356374,default,pd.html#q=sophie.

Thanks. We have Sophie plus various things that go in the fridge. She chews for a minute or so then chucks them away. I don't think anyone is going to be able to suggest anything miraculous we haven't already tried - would just be nice to know we are not alone in having a baby who is so badly affected by teething Sad

Both mine were / are horrific with teething. Sounds woo but we were desperate - teething necklace did seem to help.

Also Ashton and Parsons powder are the best.

I think the only things we have not tried is a teething necklace (DH thinks they are a load of nonsense with no science behind them).

My 19 month old really suffered. He had all of his teeth apart from back molers by 12 months. They came in 2 and 4 at a time.

I think it's just a case of riding it out.

Good luck
