Kissing with teeth....

Whenever ds wants to show love he goes in with a big grin and then opens his mouth wide and tries to bite. It genuinely comes out of a loving impulse. I know I should remove him and say 'No biting' in a firm voice but I don't want him to think he can't 'love' people. At them moment I'm managing to head him off before he actually bites but I think I'm teaching him not to be affectionate. He's 13 months. Any thoughts, oh wise ones?

My DD does this too - she is also 13 months (what's his DOB out of interest!!?) "Proper" kisses will develop later on (my DD1, 28 months is a fabulous kisser!! ) I don't think they need telling off, they are just trying to be "loving"!!

He arrived on the 24th of May.
Do you just keep a keen eye on your dd then captain? And let her approach everyone? I've missed one or two of ds's advances and he's given nasty nips....I feel so guilty about that

Don't feel guilty - he is only little!! My DD2 arrived on 20th May - so only days between them - perhaps they could get together and gnaw each other's faces off!!? I just keep an eye on my DD, but accidents will happen and the behaviour (if that's what you would like to call it!) will get better - Don't worry - I know it is a cliche, but "it's just a phase" - if he is still doing it when he is older (say 2ish) then that is the time to start reprimanding and discussing "appropriate behaviour" IMO!!
