4 year old and Wii?

My DH and I have wii stored away at home. It's mine. I've not really used it. DH doesn't use it either. He wants DS whose 4 to have it for X-mas? Am I being unreasonable saying I disagree. There are educational games on his school website which he can be getting on with. I think he should be doing these. The games are really fun. He plays them at school too.

Why do we need to introduce Wii? DH has pulled a strop now. Telling me to do what I want. Am I being unreasonable preventing my 4 year old from playing Wii?
We have a 2 year old too. No doubt she'll trash the game in secondsWink

I think it's too young. What's wrong with playing outside?!

And I bet someone will come along and waffle about how we live in a more technological world etc etc. there's plenty of time to learn - I built a computer from scratch but didn't have one as a 4 year old.

I have a 4 yr old who plays on the wii. I would say a big fat no. I wish we didn't have one. It causes no end of arguments (about turning it off) and the discs get scratched and wrecked easily.

I know that my 4 yr old friends are much more bad tempered after playing the Wii. Even still I let my 4 yr old play with his sisters and he threw such a tantrum that he's been banned from it until he can cope with losing! Even he is okay with this.

Great info think alike -

That's exactly what I've said - play outside or inside. We have loads of room.

I'm sure DH thinks I'm trying to push DS towards educational stuff because I hate TV. I have it on fir max 2 hrs a day and I'm a SAHM!

DS son is lucky if he gets half hour of TV a day. DH on the other hand loves TV and will watch it for the sake of watching it. Even if there's nothing on he'll flick through the channels!!BlushAngry
