Nearly three year old driving me nuts!!!

My ds will be three in a couple of weeks and is driving me crackers by just ignoring me constantly! He just seems to do his own thing completely and seems to take no notice of anything I say. It's so frustrating! There are only so many times I can ask him to pick something up, apologise for hurling toys at me or others (!) or get his shoes on without wanting to scream!

Any suggestions for dealing with this without constantly hollering like a fishwife would be gratefully received!!

I feel your pain. It's an incredibly stubborn, independant age, isn't it?!

cordyroy · 21/11/2013 23:47

Oh yes!!! Deep breath and persevere I guess!

No suggestions sorry. But budge up and I'll join you on the owners-of-recaltricant-nearly-3-yr-olds bench. Sigh.

We do two things either toy confiscation (if dd is throwing or it's what she is doing with the toy or not tidying) I say please stop doing that or you will loose x, if she doesn't stop the item is removed, usually for a couple of days.

Also naughty step, dd gets into a silly mood, where she is ignoring everything I say or I ask her to do something and she does the opposite or something worse which she knows she isn't supposed to do, diving over the sofa is the usual. The threat of the bottom step is usually enough if not dd is great for the rest of the day if she has been on the step.

I also ignore dd until she has done what I have asked. Just repeating not until we/you have done 'x'.

I agree woth mornings why are they so bad?!

DeathMetalMum · 22/11/2013 09:41

Oh and first thing before any of those if tv is on it is off straight away wothout warning.

Good to know I'm not alone!!! Thanks for the suggestions too. x
