Yup. Make sure it's pointing downwards when you do the nappy up, otherwise he's liable to pee over the top of the nappy. Just tuck it down with your finger - don't worry, it won't break.

Oh, yes completely normal. Can't forget the look on my mom's face the first time she changed ds's nappy.
