Which doorway bouncer would you recommend/avoid?

About to get a doorway bouncer for DS2 (4 months old). Can you recommend one? Or know one I should avoid?!

No idea but before you spend loads of money can you borrow one for a few days? My dd hated the bouncer we were given so I gave it away. She loved a big fabric covered rubber ring which she could sit in though. HTH.

We had the Lindem one (I think its the one thats sold everywhere)

It was ok but when dd got a bit too carried away she would spin around and bang her head on the door frame.

Got a great picture of her grinning away in it but with a nice red mark on her forehead!

We have the standard Lindam one, both DDs love it. Wouldn't shell out too much on it they only use it for about 6 months. I think it is of limited use until they are over 6 months as they tend to hang in them before then IME. Then they are brill, I used to call it hoovering time!

It is a faff, but my two loved it. Rarely bounced though, just span round and round and laughed their heads off.

Too long ago now to recommend a make, but FWIW it was the Tipitoes one, IIRC.

i had a tippitoes one and dd loved it, she didnt bounce much either but thoguth it was brill!! very supportive but again a faff to get in and out!!

one of the ones ( mine was mothercare I think) which has a rigid plastic 'ring' ( in shape of duck head/bum for us) around the middle so that it is kept 'open' for you to lower feet in - the lindam type ones ae a nightmare.

I borrowed a Lindem one for DS1 and remember well the head banging issue. He wasn't bothered though, he spent ages jumping up and down and round and round, getting really excited and ever so slightly battered . And yes, I do want to get the hoovering done - DS2 is most insistent that he wishes to be held upright 90% of the time so nothing's getting done round here.

Good idea about borrowing one first, didn't think about him not liking it. DS1 was such a fan...

Bayleaf - like the sound of that design, but Mothercare website only has Lindem ones. Was it definitely from there?

stoppinattwo - so sad, but I was totally foxed by your posts for about 10 minutes until I worked it out...need more sleep...

we used the lindam one too. we didnt have any probs with it.
will get it back out when ds2 arrives and is old enough.
it was £20 from mothercare. he didnt use it for long but the look on his face when he thought he was standing alone and could jump was priceless!

Spiker - my ds2 (4.5 months) is exactly the same!! Does yours absolutely refuse to bend his knees if you're trying to sit him on your lap? For the same reason, I'm about to buy a door bouncer too, so will be watching this thread for the recommendations!

an alternative idea to a bouncer is a walker (controvesial here) to sit them in and pad them out with a blanket so they can sit on their own, i put dd in one at 2 month coz she always wanted to be upright and i couldnt hold her.

she used it until she started crawling and never did work out how to move the thing, coz it had rubber grippers and we had a long pile carpet, poor love! lol

am with bayleaf for the 'ring' type but they're not easy to find - this one's ghastly and Tigger-shaped and this one's pricey, but both look easier to get wriggly feet in than the Lindem.

My sister bought a door bouncer for me, Early Learning Centre iirc and both of mine hated it with a passion.

So it has gathering dust in the wardrobe for years.

We have just put dd2 in hers (4 months old), we have a lindam one from argos, we bought it for dd1 when she was 4 months, DD2 loves it, i forgot she was in it the other day and she fell asleep in it (LOL)

I've got a blue and yellow Lindam one which I was going to sell. I'll try to put it into the "for sale" section tonight!!

(It's in really good condition. We borrowed one for ds1 who absolutely loved it, but we had to give it back. Promptly bought one for ds2, and he wasn't so keen, so it has not been used much at all)

hello marne and toothyboy from the due-in-March 06 thread...and yes, DS2 is the non-bending variety. Until today, when he suddenly started sitting independently, yay!

Don't have a huge issue with walkers, but it wouldn't work in my house for various reasons.

Thanks for the offers. I'm going to dig about on ebay for a ring-type one first, unless they prove too pricey. Thanks for the links Mrs B - I can't get the second website to load, it probably has issues with macs.

SA2, don't let my sleep-deprived, slow-on-uptake brain deflate you. I can barely remember my own name at the moment...
