How old was your DD/DS before you left them alone in the bath? My DD is almost 6 and I still supervise bathtime, wondered if this was the norm?

My son is nearly 4 and I do leave the room, but stay in the hallway, or pop into the next room.

Not sure what the norm is, but that's what I do.

Sorry, just to clarify: I do stay in the room most of the time, but leave for a few mins at a time. Hope that makes sense!

We leave them in the bath while we potter about upstairs. Unless they're likely to try and kill each other. We still have to actually wash them though. They're 8 and 6 and i think they ought to be able to wash themselves now but DS is dyspraxic and dd can't manage hair washing. So adult intervention is required.

Thanks for the replies, I do nip out to get towels and things but if I needed to go downstairs I tend to put it off. Would be nice to just sit in my room and watch tv for 20 mins while she plays but I always feel I shouldnt leave her and end up sat on the bathroom floor mumsnetting :) well I guess its not all bad actually.
