Tonsillitis and vomitting

Sorry I'm in a bit of a rush DS (8) has frequent tonsillitis and has been off school with sore throat and temp all day, doesn't want to eat or drink, his tonsils are enlarged and red (I can't see any pus though, but it's hard to see) and now he is vomitting.

Does anyone else's DCs does that? Is it a normal symptom? I really don't want to drag him to A&E tonight... Thanks

My DD now 6 had her tonsils removed when she was five. The previous winter she suffered really badly with reoccurring bouts of tonsillitis and vomiting. The vomiting was bad and she was sick several times a night, in the end we started taking her to A&E each time as her throat was so raw it was bleeding. Since having them removed she has had no problems.
Hope your DS feels better, its an awful dose.

Yes, vomiting here too. I'd take him to the out of hours doctors. Sounds like he needs some antibiotics. Poor thing, really feel for him.

I suffered with reoccurring tonsillitis as a child and would always vomit.
Had my tonsils out in the end and have never had a sore throat since.
Hope your little one feels better soon Grin

Saw GP early this morning and she said it's acid reflux. She prescribed gaviscon. His temperature was high in the night but much better this morning. Gp said that they try not to give antibiotics for tonsillitis anymore, that it usually clears up on its own and DS is better so she might be right.
