This is not quite the normal speech development query as my ds actually bit the front part of his tongue almost fully off at 18 month sand consequently was operated on to reattach it. Now I feel his speech is a little delayed but I am unsure if I am being supersensitive... . He has a good number of words well over a hundred but whilst many are preety clear, certain sounds are not at all...for example for "F" he says "L" so "Finger" is "linger" or if it at the end it is a SSH sound so "off" is "osh". T is often H too, so his cousin Thomas is Holas! He also often has his tongue stuck slightly out and is a bit dribbly I think. Is it likely the accident has left him with tongue issues (it seems mechanical, he has no issues with understanding language)? Are there any exercsie I can do with him if it is a possible strength thing? Is 2.5 too young for referral? - He has HV check soon..do they refer?? Are there any SLTs or Drs or experiences mumsnetters who could advise me please...thankyou!

I think I'd talk to your health visitor but I have a 2.5 yr old ds too and he has a few quirks! He can't say l it's always y and I noticed it with a friend of his too. I'm not really too worried, a dentist might be worth a visit though.
