What was her birth weight? As long as she is putting on a little weight steadily I'm sure she's fine. Has your HV said anything?

RevengeWiggle · 04/11/2013 09:45

If she's always been small then she's fine! As long as she is gaining at her own pace.

isitme1 · 04/11/2013 09:46

Lol.
I need ds weighing. A month ago he was 15lb.
He was big at birth toobut ds1 was big at birth but no where near 15lb at 3months. Each child is different

YouAreMySunShine271 · 04/11/2013 09:47

She was 7.11 at birth and slowly been dropping! It's weigh day today and I'm hoping she has put a little on. She has between 25-30oz of milk a day so she should be putting it on??

Does she suffer from reflux?

howaboutacuppa · 04/11/2013 09:50

It's tough at the beginning there's so much to worry about as a new mum, but it could just be 'catch down' and she's meant to be on the small side. Was she late?

If you are worried today (or the HV is) ask them to check her length; it is more important that she is in proportion and her weight and length centiles are similar (not necessarily the same..). The only thing to worry about is if she is wildly taller than she is heavy, but I bet she's not. As long as she is gaining some weight, and not losing then you're doing okay.

are you bottle feeding? If so perhaps you could increase the amount in each bottle a little if she will take it?

howaboutacuppa · 04/11/2013 09:52

also, my maths is pretty shabby but by my calculations she's put on about a pound a month; this is good!

YouAreMySunShine271 · 04/11/2013 09:58

She was a few days early but ended up on NICU with meconium aspiration on ivabxs for a week! She was initially bf but now ff as poor weight gain. The DR thought it may be reflux so tried gaviscon but made her constipated! She will only take 4-5 oz and that's a struggle at times! ????

aw bless her she had a tough start. In that case I think she's doing extremely well to have put on 3lb in that time. I would say just keep offering her regular feeds as much as she will have and try not to worry; all babies are different and some are smaller than others. My very good friend has a 14 month old who is just over 17lb - she's lovely; walking, saying words and eating fine - she is just a small little girl and perhaps yours will be the same. Remember any gain is fine, it is weight loss to worry about. Hope your weight-in goes well and try not to fret.

YouAreMySunShine271 · 04/11/2013 10:21

Could it be an ear infection? She has a really wax ear and red cheek that side
