My boy is 10 months old and was sleeping 7-7 from around 4 months he recently had a bad cold and chest infection since then he wakes regularly and is hard to put him down again, I have to cuddle him back to sleep but as soon as I put him back in his cot he's awake again, and getting up at 5am every day :( please help me. I find babies usually get a bit clingy after a bout of illness, and he could well have some teething pain at the moment too.
My ds is 10 months too and has also been a good sleeper since he was quite small. He has been suffering a but with his teeth and a tummy upset and has been waking occasionally. Sometimes he goes down after a cuddle, or a bottle if I felt he hasn't eaten much that day due to his teething. But sometimes he does like you describe and is happy to fall asleep on me but then gets upset when I put him down again. I usually pick him up and give him a quick cuddle then pop him down again. I might so this a couple of times. Then if he still cries when I put him down I leave the room. Most of the time he whimpers for a couple of minutes then goes to sleep. If he gets very upset I go back in but I try to just pick him up til he calms down then put him down again, rather than cuddling him for ages. Usually once they feel totally better they start sleeping better again anyway. Good luck!

Dd2 is now 12mo and used to be a good sleeper until we started weaning at 6mo. Since then we have had several phases where her sleep is dreadful, waking up several times overnight, sometimes not settling until she comes into bed with me, and awake from 5.15am. Each phase has lasted a couple of weeks at its worst, then improved again. It is usually due to teething or a cold, but try googling 'wonder weeks' as that is a bit of an eye-opening read and may be helpful and reassure you that as with most things baby-related, it is a phase, and it will pass!

It may sound obvious but Have you checked he's warm enough? Dd started waking at night recently & I think it could be to do with temperature as it has suddenly dropped by us. Maybe warm his bed with a hot water bottle before putting him down & give him a favourite teddy to cuddle, or put a t-shirt that smells if you in with him. We started using a light show when Dd was around 14months & its worked wonders getting her to settle.
Good luck.
