18 month old pinching, poking and wrestling. Help!

My DS is nearly 18 months old. He is very interested in everything at the moment. If I have bare legs he will grab my fat and pinch it. He sometimes pinches my cheeks and chin in his vice like grip. I tell him no and put him down. The major problem is that he tries to 'cuddle' other children and grab parts of their faces too, he sometimes ends up rolling on the ground with them if they are smaller than him. Again, I will extracate him and tell him 'no' firmly. Is there any other method? He wouldn't stay put on a naughty step. He does understand a lot of what I say but his own speech is just single words with the occasional combination of two words, if that has any bearing on it at all.

Please help!

Hi
Nothing to add really, but my 19 month old son is exactly the same. He will grab my face and squeeze my cheeks so hard I honestly expect to see blood! He is also into hair pulling and head-butting as well, sounds delightful! Hopefully this is just a phase and will soon pass. I think also as he begins to be able to talk more and understand me better maybe I can reason with him a little bit more! In the meantime he finds it all hilarious. Aren't toddlers delightful!

I used to deflect it by making a game of it and turning it into tickling or chasing or something.

No idea if that worked or if it was just a phase and would have stopped anyway!
