Scissor skills

I went along to a craft activity with DS2 yesterday & it involved some scissor work (cutting strips of paper into smaller bits to represent leaves). DS2 couldn't manipulate the scissors with one hand, despite me showing hand over hand, but managed quite well with 2 hands. He is 2.6 & left-handed (was given left-handed scissors to use). Is this about right? The other DC there were mainly over 3 & seemed to have a better grasp of it than DS.

Just curious as I can't remember from DS1 Smile

My DS couldn't use scissors one-handed till he was close to 4; I think that's fairly average (though we never did much craft at home).

Dd1 is 3.7 and still can't work them properly. It doesn't worry me though. She'll learn in her own time. But getting me to cut out everything for her sometimes drives me mad.

2 is quite young to expect that. Ds was over 3 when he got it

DD is 3.10 and has only just learnt how to use them one handed. I did a shift at Playschool a few months back, and I don't remember any of the children using them one handed then.
