9 month old waking early

Me again.

I've seen the other post re 8 month old early waking, but my DD2's routine is a bit different so I'm not sure the same advice would work for me.

Routine is:

  • Asleep 745-8pm
  • Dreamfeed 1045pm
  • Night feed 2am-345am (missed this once this week)
  • Wakes btwn 5am and 6am for an hour of babbling, sitting up, looking around (seems to be exactly 3 hours from when she had the night feed)

If I go in an hour later I can feed her back to sleep for another hour. At 3 months old she slept though for about a month. So she used to be able to do it.

  • Late morning nap about 3 hours after waking for 1-1.5 hours
  • Second nap btwn 3.30 and 4pm for half an hour

I pretty much always feed her to sleep. Not sure if that's the problem. I am still bf her.

Anyone please have any advice? Thanks :)

Are you sure she's still hungry at night? Maybe try to get someone else to settle her? It seems like alot of night feeds for a baby of that age.

Agree re Night Feeds. Not sayong they are all the same but dd had dropped one of her feeds by 8 weeks. A nine month old still having a dream feed is rare (imo)

It's not that rare - both my older DCs were still feeding every 2 hours at night at 9m.

Her wakeup time sounds normal, to be honest, though her naps are reversed from what most babies do. Most are doing about 45 minutes from around 9am-ish and then a couple of hours after lunch. Maybe try switching her naps around (wake her after 40 minutes in the morning) and see if that makes a difference.
