My 3yr old is driving me nuts! HELP

My 3 (nearly 4) year old ds is going through a whingy stage. That is putting it mildly! It is really frustrating and I am finding myself getting cross alot.

For instance if he needs a drink instead of asking nicely he does this grating whingy voice and moans "I neeeeedddd aa drrrinkkkkk!" really loudly. He does this all of the time.
SHould I ignore this behaviour and only respond when he speak normally - or discipline him (we have a sticker/naughty step thing going on) It sounds silly but it is driving me crazy.

He is also clingy - not in an emotional way - but in an attention seeking way (looping around like a teenager) I do loads with him - so he isnt bored and he has mountains of toys. He just pesters me from the minute he wakes up moaning for breakfast to when his dad gets home. I cant be all acting singing mummy all the time!!!!

Should I start insisting that he spends time playing in his room?

Also (last thing I promise) I have a number of his toys clutterng up the place (again they drive me mad!) He has a small toybox in our lounge - he upends it makes a mess doesnt play with them!! Do you think that it is unreasonable to put ALL of his toys in his room?

Luckily this is only until september as he starts school!!!!!

Anybody with a 3/4 who could also share their routine with me - PLLLEEEEEAAASSEEE - how much time do you spend with your child?

Hi emily05, I also have a ds of 3.5 who is exactly the same. Don't really have any advice but will read with interest!! We have put most of his toys in his room, so now he just upends it there, which he leaves for me to clear up!! I try and get him outside as much as possible. Do you have a garden??

Re whinny voice thing - I just refuse to give ds what he wants until he talks to me properly - you have to keep at it and its a pain, but its better than giving in I think. Re toys - could try saying play with one thing, then put it away before you get out another? (have to admit this isn't a pet hate for me - as long as he tidies up at the end of the day..)

my ds has to ask i his "big boy" voice if he wants something(and he's whining). I try to have a minimum of toys in living room. He has three stacking baskets in there(which aren't neon and "fit" in with rest of room.) He has what fits into them downstairs and the rest upstairs. He's quite tidy but we need to encourage him to put things away occassionally or we'd become over run. Gosh, I sound like a right witch don't I. He is having a happy childhood honest and generally has us wrapped around his little finger. However I need to have some space(betwwen Bob the Builder merchandise and all the tat he's given by ILS. (love them!)
He's getting a new (huge) bedroom later in year and our lving room is going to get smaller(We're getting the wall between living and dining room put back in) I can imagine, i'll be keeping his toys in his room then and only having what ever he's playing with downstairs. By then he'll also have a baby sis or bro so I'll be over run by sterilizers and b/f cushions!And a whole new person to fit into the room!
